Squealing belt

I recently had my car fixed for an upper and lower manifold leak. When I got the car back the belt was squealing. I took it back to the garage and they said there was nothing wrong with it, but it still makes a lot of noise. The sound gets worse when it is wet out. Is there anything that can be done to remedy this?

Be more assertive at the shop. The belt did not squeal before they worked on it and I don’t hear a lot of other cars running down the street that are squealing so there is something wrong.

They may have spilled coolant on the belt and now it’s slipping a little. Either that or the belt is not tight enough. Depending upon the age of the belt, I’d consider replacing it rather than tightening it, especially if there has been antifreeze spilled on it.
