2002 Mitsubishi Lancer speedometer quit. How do I fix?

If the CEL is not on with a code for a bad Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), chances are the speedo is fried. A new gauge panel will fix it. The speedo is an electronic gauge, not mechanical. There is no speedo cable to worry about. Just let the DMV know the speedo is inaccurate unless you can get one reset to match the bad one.
