I have a '93 Toyota pickup (2wd) with the 4-cylinder engine & 5 speed manual transmission. I noticed recently that the odometer has stopped registering any more miles. The speedometer continues to work. I suspect that this points to something awry inside the instrument in the dash and not the connection from the transmission to the speedometer/odometer. Unless the odometer gets it’s input from something other than the speedometer cable? Anybody out there have a knowledge of the inner workings of these instruments and how to fix them?

It’s probably the speedometer head. Is it making funny grinding noises?
You probably need to replace the gauge. A junkyard part should be okay.
