I have a 1990 Toyota Corolla with 137K. The speedo cable started leaking 90W onto my feet. I’ve replaced the seal at the differential where the cable comes out and replaced the intermediate piece inbetween. I’ve even filled the intermediate cable with silicone caulk. The breather is free and venting properly. What am I missing here!!! This is driving me crazy, right now its disconnected and I just fill the dif up every so often…
There are two seals on the speedometer adapter. There is a o-ring that seals the adapter to the differential case. There is a second seal that goes between the speedometer driven gear shaft and the adapter. I don’t know the exact type of seal the Corolla uses but it usually is a lip seal. That second seal is the culprit. You may need to replace the seal and the drive gear with shaft.
