A friend sat in the back seat of my Toyota Solara 2002 suggested that I pay attention to a humming sound in the rear axle area. The volume is proportional to the speed. Do I need to worry about this?
If the noise is from a worn wheel bearing, you need to worry. If the bearing fails the wheel/tire can fly off.
