In what way are the laws not “regulatory meddling”? There’s some line there whereby one category is “laws” and the laws are ok, and then a whole other category that is “regulatory meddling”? That’s just muddled.
We would have avoided the current recession if there had been some “regulatory meddling” in the derivatives markets. CDSs were and are a catastrophe for the economy but Wall St demanded that the government should leave them to sort it out for themselves. Then later, they wanted a $trillion to clean up their party.
