Slow accelerating 92 Sentra

1.6L, DOHC, auto, 100,000 miles

On occasion (up to 20%)from a stop there would be minimum acceleration from 0 to 25mph (seems like letting go of the brakes going downhill). At about 25mph it starts to accelerate normally. I have replaced: spark plugs, spark plug wires, fuel filter, air filter, dist cap and rotor and 02 sensor. The only replacement which did made a difference was the 02 sensor which made the engine more aggressive in gear changes (imo). I also have noticed the upshift from 1st to 2nd is noticeably more jerky. During the slow acceleration the engine is not revving any higher. I have tried starting off in 1st gear a few times and it is fine.

The acceleration issue “may” have started when we replaced the tube between the exhaust manifold and cat converter. The distributor is leaking oil (not sure if that is the issue). Tranny fluid looks clean and at proper level.

Could it be the transmission? Cat converter?

I will be cleaning the mass airflow sensor later today to see if that makes a difference.

driving/acceleration above 25mph is fine
have added fuel injector cleaner for a couple tanks but still same issue
