I have numerous reasons to not want anything to do with New York City and those DownStaters of their ilk… read this old posting of mine… NYC thinks and acts as if the rest of the state is there to serve their wants and needs…

Learning the Interstate Highways

In the 1950s, my grandfather was high up in the New York State Department of Highways. He had two state issued vehicles with special license plates, a Caddy and a 4-wheel drive Jeep (he did not mind getting “his hand dirty…”). He was deeply involved in the planning and construction of the New York State Thruway, a 500+ mile controlled highway that runs from New York City North to Albany, then West to Buffalo. Since it was built with some Federal funds, sections of the Thruway had to be Toll-F…
