I happened to watch a tire guy the other day, he pulled the valve stem, hooked up pressure
blower on the hole, then had what might be like a giant leafblower blowing into the gap between the tire and the rim, then poof the tire seated,

Tester showed a picture of that or a similar method for setting the bead on stubborn tires in post 2 above. The current discussion now, the bead setting isnā€™t the issue, itā€™s the mounting the tire on the rim puzzlement; i.e. the task prior to bead setting.

I like the idea of a jig that will help you hold the tire in place while you get the bead over the rim flange. Just be careful it doesnā€™t cause too much distortion.
