I have a 2005 Buick Century with a 3.1L V6. I also have a multi-conducter wire about 0.2" in diameter (less than a quarter inch). I’d like to run it from the engine compartment fuse box to the cabin on the driver’s side. I can run it through the door jam without pinching the wire, but it might compromise the soft rubber weather stripping (I tried it with a sample length). I found a firewall grommet, but it’s in a tight location and I’m concerned if a poke a hole through it I may accidentally damage the wire harness already running through it. I also found a rubber stopper plug near the middle of the firewall but closer to the passenger side. Before I do any path searching, does anyone have any idea where the stopped-up hole leads to? (see photos)
That firewall grommet is likely there for the engine harness to enter the cabin to connect to the rest of the car.
Putting wire through the firewall is not that hard. You must be able to see BOTH sides if the entry point so you don’t damage something.
That big rubber grommet likely has enough space to poke your wire through or you can poke a hole in it and seal with silicone after the wire is in place. Or you can drill a hole nearby from the inside and install your own grommet.
