Safety-- old volvo or new subaru?

Like this?

@jtsanders

I suppose if you’re driving that truck, you feel that you ALWAYS have the right of way . . .

I work on fleet vehicles all day long.

Many of the vehicles are much bigger than that International

As far as I’m concerned, that thing is an overgrown toy

Or perhaps somebody’s having a midlife crisis

Or perhaps somebody’s trying to compensate . . .

All of the emphasis and expense on things related to a post-crash situation and yet the states pretty much dole out drivers licenses to anyone with a couple of working tentacles and poor eyesight while car and accessory manufacturers continue to add toys to distract people from the job at hand; paying attention to the roadway and avoiding a crash in the first place.

Update – the OP reported in another post that she bought an '09 VW Jetta Sportwagon.

@jt
You’re right. Yellow cars are safer being easier to see.

I vote for the car with the best driver. No talking on the cell phone, speeding etc.

“I suppose if you’re driving that truck, you feel that you ALWAYS have the right of way . . .”

That’s not the way I meant it, and it definitely does not seem like the OP. Bigger is safer for the occupants, and that is how the OP expressed interest. I’m not interested in any truck, much less a behemoth like that for me. Just now, I drive a midsize sedan, and it’s as large a car as I want. My point was to show someone that wants to focus heavily on safety what it really means. A Tahoe may be appropriate for her, or it might not. Maybe the extreme but appropriate example may geve her pause to consider other features, too.

Bigger is safer for the occupants,

Not always true, at least in a crash with a fixed object such as an oak tree. Look at the 98-03 f150, they are horrible in crashes. If i were to chose hitting a tree at 30 mph and I could be in a 98-03 f150 or a minicooper, I would take the minicooper.

Look up an article called “big and bad”

My comment was meant to be sarcastic

@db4690, it’s hard to know when you can’t hear a voice or see the face. But my post applied to @circuitsmith, and I don’t believe he was joshing

@WheresRick, pickups fare will in personal injury claims among all insurers. The real world data doesn’t agree with you. Green is good, and that’s a whole lotta green.

Bigger is better, and SUV’s are pretty safe:
