I found even a lot of dealers don’t do detailed inspections of their cars (or any maintenance past the auction), and there’s almost never any warranties or they are pitiful.
That’s what the pre-purchase inspection is for.
the one thing you should do before traveling to see a vehicle is have the seller send you a bunch of pictures. inside and out, under the hood and underneath. at least you get a general idea before wasting a trip.

Yes, and Consumer Reports recommends a prepurchase inspection by an independent shop even for CPO vehicles.
are you saying you cant find one at a local dealer for a price you want to pay?
paying more for a local purchase might be worth it in the end.
