Hey everyone, thanks for reading my post. I currently have a 1988 Cadillac DeVille that sometimes when the headlights or radio are turned on immediately bucks. If this sort of thing happens while I am driving using the gas pedal usually just fills the engine with gas (I can hear it) and not much else but a “click tick” noise. I turn off the lights and viola the car runs normal again. Could this mean I have a bad ground? Any insight is greatly appreciated and thanks a million again.
~Cheers
It sounds to me as though you are losing power to the ignition system when you turn the lights on. The voltage is dropping below a level for which the ignition system can’t fire the spark plugs. This would be a problem in the charging system–possibly the alternator.
