I drive a 2006 Honda Element, standard transmission, with 125,000 miles on it. My hubby drives a 1999 Honda Accord, with 200,000 miles on it. We are both young 60-somethings who need to replace one or both cars. What should we do? We would prefer not to take on a car loan at this point. Also, we need cars with all wheel or 4 wheel drive. HELP!
How much do you want to spend?
You didn’t give us much information here. Why do you want to replace one or both cars? If it’s to get AWD, assuming that snow is the issue, have you tried good winter tires on your current vehicles? If it’s to have reliable vehicles, then clearly the Accord is getting up there in years.
I’d prefer never to see anyone beyond their 20s take out a car loan either. Have you not been saving up for your next car while driving these older vehicles? In any event, as texases asks, what is your budget here?
Why wouldn’t you keep the Element? It has AWD and is relatively new.
I’d sell the Accord and get a used Honda CR-V.
