Over the past three years I’ve replaced the wheel bearings in the front right wheel 3 times. It is a 2003 toyota corolla. When I’m going slow and touching the breaks there is a loud metal on metal rubbing noise. Also, when I back up there is a whining noise. I just took it too the local tire place and they said it was the bearings again. What could be causing this?
poor installation, bad body to frame ground.have the shop check to see if any TSB’s are available for this problem. normally a wheel bearing is a roaring type noise, not grinding. it will usually go away when the load is changed by the weight shifting to the left or right.
