Repairing damaged sanding and buff

Hi Everyone,
I’m new here, a little about me, 35 years ago I worked at a body shop doing body work, painting and buffing. I have been a diesel mechanic for 25 years now.

Ok, a friend came to me and asked about how to fix his paint, He tried color sanding and buffing and got over zealous with his fingers on sand paper and left finger marks then tried buffing it out and you know where I’m going with this…
It’s been a while for me on this so I’m asking for advice. I think it can be saved pervading the clear has something to work with.
I would say 5000 grit wet & dry with a block ever so lightly a jitterbug might be to much and only on the finger spots ? If it’s any consolation to him it did come out really shiny that part looks great however the finger prints are there.
I’m looking for suggestions and comments actually the longer I think about it the more it comes back to me I’m wondering my approach?

Thanks Fredy

Rubber hand sanding pad with wet 1000 grit, 2000 then maybe 3000. Compound, polish then fine polish.

Patience is a virture, the clearcoat is thin, so I would not use a machine.
