We have a 1998 Subaru Outback with 150000 miles. The transmission is going out and will cost about $2000 to repair. Otherwise, it is in pretty good shape. Should we fix this car or replace it?
If we should replaced it, what is the general opinion of the Mazda5 for a family of 4 with children ages 12 and 9?
Thanks for your opinion!
Dad
For $2K and the possibility to get 40-50K more miles on it, repair.
The Mazda 5 is supposed to be a pretty good vehicle; Consumer Reports has it on their recommended list. Take the whole family for test drive and see how it compares to your Outback.
Repair is almost always cheaper. It would appear to me that it is likely going to be cheaper this time.
