Recommendation for Defensive Driving course in Portland, Oregon

My 20-year old niece, who lives in the Portland, OR area, has totaled two cars in the last 4 months, both times because of control issues with skidding – once on snow and the other time after being forced off the road onto gravel shoulder. I’ve found a driving school (ProDrive) that offers a 3-hour defensive driving course for $299. While that price seems very high to me, maybe it’s worth it. Any comments would be most appreciated!
