Can anyone help me before my mechanic tears all of his hair out! I had a reconditioned gearbox fitted in my 2001 Ranger but since then the 4x4 light won’t go out on the dash. I bought a new cable as it seemed as though the nodule on the end wasn’t connecting properly & this worked for about 1/2 an hour then the annoying little light was there again. Has anyone else had this problem? If so…how did you fix it?

Activation switch could be shorted.

If there is just a simple switch connection to ground that turns on the light then the switch contacts may just be dirty.
