Does this upper radiator hose look like it has been vandalised with a knife or ruptured on it’s own? Its old but not not ancient, I put it in 9 years ago. But ive only seen leaks from pinholes or torn ends under worm gear hose clamps.
That’s not a straight cut with a knife.
The hose failed.

Thanks for your reply, and failure is easier to accept than vandalism
Not to mention…
Why would someone “vandalize” a radiator hose?
That hose looks pretty easy to get to. Buy a replacement (molded hose) and some antifreeze and replace it yourself.
I did, much easier than the fuel guage sender job I will be doing soon.
I don’t understand how vandals think. It’s juat that i’ve never seen that sort of slit happen in a radiator hose before. And, the same day I found my Yucca plant next to my car uprooted
Agreed, hose has just failed, seen it many times, besides, wouldn’t it be hard to get to the top of the hose with the hood shut..??..
There you go again , being logical
That’s one careful vandal to only cut part way through the hose!
Agree, age crack.
I can see how someone could get under my radiator and reach up with a long hook and pull.down on the 1st hood latch, then open the 2nd latch normally. I can also imagine a knife cutting all the way through the rubber but not the braided fabric. And another coincidence along with the uprooted plant is the neighbor that was very mad at me that day…
A vandal is not going to take that much time and energy when they can just cut the lower hose in seconds.
Yep, anything is ‘possible’, but this chain of events is very unlikely. Any knife that could slice like that would have no problem cutting the rest of the way through the hose.
Possible, but not probable… A vandal is not going to go through that much effort to mess with you, they normally stab your tire(s), wayyyy faster and less likely they will get caught…
