I have a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Edition with a 4.0L 6 cyclinder that has 143000 but almost a new engine, and when I am driving every day to college no matter what i do when i acceleate it i do not rev the rpms above 3000 rpms shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear it what i think miss shifts. i think this because when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd and my rpms are around 2000 when it gets to third the rpms jump to 3500 and then shifts really quickly to 4th gear and then there is no problem. so my question is what it the problem would it be solved if i reprogram the computer or what. i have replaced most of the engine, sensors and wheel bearing, and differenaitals. i love my jeep and wont buy a new one even though i have th moeny because i dont like the design so can you help me solve this issue?
Jeep Lover- No offense but I’m really having a tough time understanding what you are trying to say. Maybe if you could use more punctuation marks and capitalize a little more it would help, seriously. Communication is the key here. There are many people who want to help you on this forum.
Here is the edited version. I hope the helps.
I have a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Edition with a 4.0L 6 cylinder that has 143000 that has almost a new engine. When I am driving every day to college no matter what I do, when I accelerate it if do not rev the RPMS above 3000 RPMS shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear it what I think miss shifts. Now I think this because when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd and my RPMS are around 2000 when it gets to third the RPMS jump to 3500 and then shifts really quickly to 4th gear. After that all gears shift normal. So my question is what it the problem would it be solved if I reprogram the computer or is it a major transmission problem? I have replaced most of the engine, sensors, wheel bearing, and differentials. I love my Jeep and don?t really want to have to replace with a new Jeep so can anyone help.
Soooo… does it feel like it drops OUT of gear? Or rather than going from 2nd to 3rd, it goes from 2nd to 1st? Or does it feel like the transmission is slipping once it gets to 3rd gear? I’m still a little confused about what you mean by “mis-shifts”.
It feels like the Rpms jump when I exit from 2nd gear at a low rpm. Then next thing I know it shifts hard to 4th gear. I hope this helps i not sure how to describe it.
As I stated on your other thread “Transmission” Have a trans shop check it, there is an electronic item called a governor transducer which controlls shifting. This is a common issue with the RE transmissions.
