Pro-Rating Automobile Batteries and Walmart

Well, a small business owner might pay 30 % federal, 15% state, and 15% payroll taxes. At least on their last dollar they earn in a year. So that’s what? 30 + 15 + 15 = 60%. And doesn’t include sales or property taxes.

And therefore meaningless.

Try this out to find out actual total taxes paid:

My undergraduate major was American History, so you should not assume that I am ignorant of history or historical trends.

In any event, your claims about current tax levels is not accurate.

I believe you are absolutely incorrect.
By the time I pay EVERY tax and fee assessed in my daily life I can all but assure you it is near 70% of my income.

Income taxes + Sales taxes + gasoline taxes + tolls + internet taxes + property taxes + late fees + health care fines and fees (more taxes) etc etc etc

with a major in American History you should know all about taxation without representation and the effects of taxation and the burden it creates on growth and well being.

This tax that walmart collected on something I did not even pay full price for (but was taxed as though I did) is just another example of the sneaky ways bureaucrats are squashing personal well being in favor of massive government control and income redistribution.

All I can suggest is that you should hire a better accountant.

Or find a way to install politicians who are for the people rather than for themselves

How do you intend to “install” them?

And, in case you hadn’t been aware of this reality, Walmart is not “the government”.

Go do it, I can assure you it’s nowhere near 70%.

It’s too much even if it’s 50%
Where’s all that money going?
There are bridges collapsing all over America…roads needing repair…highways signs falling apart.
Water systems failing, electrical grids deteriorating.

So who’s getting the benefit of all those missing trillions? We don’t even have a capable military any longer, lower Strategic reserves, diminished munitions for protecting Americans.

I can’t believe you could defend the current financial situation and taxation with record inflation we have now. And this isn’t about the orange one. I’m not a fan so don’t go there please.

Some of these things are optional, I don’t spend all of my money on gasoline, tolls, sales tax, property tax etc. I save half of my income, they don’t tax me for that, not yet.

A single person making $100k in Dallas is paying a bit less than 30% of their income in federal state sales taxes local property taxes, and gas taxes according to that site. Move to New York City that goes to 36%.

Not 50%.

So a person making $100,000 is paying $20,000 in ‘hidden fees’? List them and their amounts.

Imagine you have investments in stocks, and you get taxed on what you could POTENTIALLY make on those investments in the FUTURE, before you ever make a dime.

I have to wonder why ANYONE would be so defensive of government taxation?
Except maybe for someone cashing in big time from tax dollars lifted off of citizens.
It just seems odd to me.

Here we go. Lacking any facts to back up nonsense claims, attack the person with the facts.

I’m sick of folks in what I used to consider my party coming up with nonsense that is tearing this country apart. 70% taxes! Stolen elections! The list goes on and on. I used to let it go, but now I see that my silence only encourages this stuff. No more.

I wonder if DIYWrencher is any kin to the -SNOWMAN- spouting nonsense like he is doing.

Yup!
Nobody is forced to take toll roads, and there are always non-toll roads that one can take, instead. The exception, of course, has to do with interstate bridges and tunnels, in which case one has no choice.

Late fees can be avoided by paying one’s bills on time.

Some states have no sales tax, so if I had an issue with sales taxes, I could move to one of those states.

During my working years, my goal was to save/invest at least $1k per month, and I was almost always able to do so. Now that I am retired, and my expenses are lower, I typically save/invest $2k per month.

One of the most amusing things about his argument is that he is using the old “no taxation without representation” slogan. Anyone who learned their US History would know that the colonists who used that slogan truly lacked representation, because they lacked the right to vote for the members of the British Parliament that was taxing them.

By contrast, any US citizen who exercises his right to vote automatically has representation. Whether he/she likes his/her representatives is another matter entirely, but voting=having representation.

If someone doesn’t like the candidates put forward by the major parties, then he/she can write-in a candidate of their own choosing. Or, anyone can actually run for office.

That’s a good saving % imo. “not yet” is the key phrase though. The interest you earn on your savings is included in your yearly income tax calculations, & when eventually the remaining amount is spent, there will be some sales tax.

No dispute, one of the best ways to avoid paying taxes is to not earn any income.

Surprisingly, that’s only possible in primary elections here in Calif. For the final election, there is no provision for the voter to write in a alternate candidate, at least in most races.
