Premature cooling fan operation

Why do the cooling fans operate before the engine has warmed up?

You’re not giving us much detail. Under what conditions, exactly, do the fans come on “prematurely?”

Also, we need the year and engine type for your Caravan.

Perhaps the coolant temperature sensor that works the fans is faulty.

Any time you activate the windshield defroster the AC compressor and the radiator cooling fans will probably come on.

Fans come on when the engine has warmed up somewhat but before reaching full warm up. They continue to run once engine has warmed up. 2002 Carvan, 3.3 engine. Thank you.

I’d have someone test the coolant temperature sensor in the radiator. On most vehicles that’s what triggers the fans.

If the sensor is faulty it could activate the fans too early. Or too late. Either way it should be checked out.

The cooling fans will also come on when you use the A/C and defroster. And what do you mean “fully warm”? They’re designed to come on when the engine reaches a certain temperature. They could possibly come on if you have a thermostat issue. Is that what your problem really is, heater not hot ? If so try a thermostat. The coolant sensor is mounted on the intake manifold next to thermostat.
