Pre-purchase inspection

I’ve now been turned down by 3 Pre-Purchase Mobile Inspection companies who say they no longer serve the Lynchburg, VA area. I’m trying to buy a used car from there (I’m in Louisiana). Have done this several times before in different areas. Any recommendations? Thanks.

If this is an indivigual you are buying from just ask them who you might contact or if there is a shop they can take it to .

If a dealer I doubt they will allow anyone to come to the lot to inspect the vehicle .

Just curious what is so special about this vehicle so far away ?

Many mechanics will do that. They don’t have to specialize in pre-inspection.

This must be a special car for you to buy one that’s 1000 miles from home. What is it? (Year, make, model)

Dealership.

I’d love recommendations for good ones who will do this, please. They’d go get the car from the dealership?

It is! I have a 2016 Ford Flex Limited, and I want a 2019 exactly like it. That’s the last year they made them.

I can’t see a dealership letting someone on their lot to inspect a vehicle or allowing them to even leave with it .

As far as I know this forum does not have any regular menber who lives in Lynchburg . So Google is your friend.

One is a little more than 50 miles from Lynchburg and another is less tha 200 miles away.

They do. The representative is the buyer’s stand-in for a test drive, etc. It’s a fantastic service, when you can find one.

Have you asked the dealer if they will do that and if they have a few places that you might use for the inspection?

This is a case where using a car buying concierge service/broker/whatever would be a great idea, or go with something like a CarMax, Carvana etc etc, one of those that have dealerships all over the USA and can move vehicles around (for a price lol)… It cost me $99.00 to have my truck shipped to me from a neighboring state… And I didn’t sign for it until after I drove it…
