I wonder if the Chinese car companies receive incentives from the government and how much they decrease the price for Chinese automobiles at home. If the government were to cover nonrecurring costs with grants that would mean that only marginal costs would have to be covered. Most nonrecurring costs are startup costs IMO and continued subsidies would be much less to cover ongoing engineering. Hard to compete with that.
