Here’s a puzzler for your amusement. For cars with a transmission dipstick, there’s another way to do it, and without having to crawl under the car. What is it? Lots of hints already provided
Ain’t no dipstick - other than owner.
Such would make things too easy, efficient and $ave.
When the RX350 transmission overflow tube is accessed, transmission fluid stagnating in the overflow tube drains out.
Lexus putoo much transmission fluid in?
So Walmart buys oil from the supplier and then marks the price up before putting it on the shelf (standard practice), but then they take the already marked up oil off the shelf and marked that price up again before installing it in your vehicle???
And your $8.00 oil change did not include the price of the oil and filter that you paid for separately, so it was a lot more than a $8.00 oil change once you add the cost that you paid for the oil and filter separately…
I don’t know about Walmart, but I’ve been amazed at how much extra a ‘synthetic oil’ change costs compared to dino oil at many shops. Much more than the oil cost would justify.
I’m sure Walmart is not going to use synthetic out of their barrel. The one oil change I had done on my new Acura at the dealer cost me $80. Then I found out they were using the Acura semi synthetic or blend. I just do my own with marked up Mobil 1 for a little over $30 and a half hour at my leisure.
That’s Why I stopped going to the local JL. At the time the full service mineral oil change was $40 and the full synthetic oil change was over $90. We’ve been using our mechanic for oil changes since then and the full synthetic change is $70.
Bought six qts of Mobile1 Full Synthetic 0W-20 < $30
1 Fram oil filter $?
Add $8 to change the oil and dispose old while we shop.
Worked well until the blood center called for an emergentransporto Cheyenne, ?oming.
Since then I have been doing my overnight OCD oil changes.
Walmart now sells Mobil1 Full Synthetic 0W-20 12-qt Bag in Box for $60!
He lives in a special place on this planet, where the ONLY Walmart on this planet will mark up the price of oil AGAIN. And where people like him are allowed to drive over 100mph legally, and where driving a vehicle with tires that are vastly over inflated is so superior that it should solve the gas crisis is everyone did it.
Yes. Where Walmart oil and Mobil1 is cheaper thany auto partstore.
Yes, where EMTs who successfully complete EVOC training may drive authorized emergencyehicles like BMW owners and Kansas farmers driving their King Ranch Excursions on Interstate highways.
Tire pressure above the vehicle manufacturers’ comfort inflation but below the tire manufacturers’ maximum pressure. Keeps tires flexing less and cooler and increases fuel mileage - the registered tree-hugger’s ideal.
Now if only us Greenies could reduce windrag.
Everywhere I have looked and every state trooper I have asked and everything I have ever heard and every ambulance I have ever gotten behind have all said or only gone a max of 10 mph over the speed limit… Law enforcement is the only exception to the rule… I think I did read one place that NY will allow 20 over max…
But yeah my point was why not just tell Walmart to put the oil of your choice and filter in your vehicle, they will put any oil that they have on the shelf(s) in your vehicle…
BTW you are running one of the better oils on the market but one of the worst filter out there… lol
Here, driver’s discretion. No “10 or 20 miles over the limit”, rules.
Watch for problems/hazards/road conditions instead of looking athe speedometer.
If safe, I attaihigher speeds out in the middle of nowhere, no traffic, open fieldso no animals, dry, clean roads. (Recently, as I crested an Interstate incline, I slowed because I could not seearlyenough what was on the other side. Deer were along the shoulder, so I slowed to about 25 mph and passed. (Shallook athe dash cam video to see the speed.)
What filter?
Before discarding I look athe filter element. They all have looked intact. (Compared Toyota filter to Fram and see no difference other than filter media color. Same pleats.)
Are we noto trustheir filtering claims?
(Now if I only had thatoilet paperoll filter!)
That seems like a pretty good value. I also discovered Walmart has competitive prices on engine oil. I’ve been purchasing 10W-30 Pennzoil there in a 5 gallon jug. Good prices on shop chemicals too, starter spray, brake cleaner, carb cleaner. Car batteries too, purchased the last one for my truck when Corolla was registered, but the only Walmart that sells car batteries is too far away to take the truck. Fortunately haven’t needed to buy any car batteries the past 4 Covid years, although Corolla’s is starting to show signs of its advanced age.
We have no rules applying to speed.
Do you want driver watching the speedometer or looking at traffic, pedestrians and conditions ahead?
The RX350 130 mphoto was out in the middle of nowhere. No vehicles, no pedestrians, no animals, dry, smooth clean pavement.
When a distant hospital requests “get it here as soon as you can”, why a slower speed?
I have driven blood almost as fast as the state patrol has taken it!
