Back up lights were optional too. I remember our 57 ford 500 had them as standard but was the high end model.

I think it means an inline 6 cyl. engine. also called a straight 6.
Around here it meant standard shift as compared to an automatic.

Wouldn’t that likely be a straight stick or manual transmission. Back in 68 my girl friend ordered a new Malibu. She order a manual trans with the v8. Still reasonably popular back then. Cut back on every other option but had to have the manual.
