My husband drives a 2003 Mustang with 67,000 miles on it. I just found out that for the past 3 weeks the dashboard gauges have been acting strange when he starts the car - first they max out, then all drop to zero, then sometimes peg out a 2nd time and then they function as normal. Any ideas on what is wrong? (I think he is going to end up stranded if it isn’t repaired).
There is a voltage regulator for the gauges and I would guess it is intermittent.
The Mustang gauges (maybe other kinds of Ford gauges) are supposed to all peg out at startup, it is part of the gauge test (it one doesn’t max, there’s something wrong with it.) If they do it twice… not so sure about that. I wouldn’t worry about it.
