The BD-5J has a 300 mph top speed, a 240 mph cruise speed, and a range of 400 miles.
The BD-5TP (turbo prop) only has a slightly slower cruise speed 225 mph and a 240 mph top speed, but in exchange, it has a 928 mile range, making it the choice of anyone who understands that there is a big difference between going 100 mph and actually being 100 miles away from here one hour from now.
The TP version also has a much shorter take off and landing distance. http://www.bd5.com/bd01003.htm
I’m not sure what the range of that Bugatti would be at top speed, but to make 1500 hp, you gotta burn about 112-120 gallons per hour. How big is that car’s gas tank?

At top speed the Veyron has 12 minutes of fuel onboard. Generously discarding the acceleration phase and assuming you start at a full tank and at 254mph, and assuming you have a long enough road to go 254mph until the tanks are dry, you’ll get 50 miles out of it. The new one will doubtless be even worse.
Back in the 70s a cousin of mine who was an Air Force officer down South was transferred to Elmendorf AFB in Alaska and he bought a brand new bright red on red '74 SD 455 TA before leaving. Not a convertible though…
He made a casual 1 week road trip out of it and stopped here in OK to visit before heading to CA and on up to AK.
I had earlier mentioned that I had to go to Tulsa on an errand and he tossed me the keys and said take the SD if I wanted to.
I profusely thanked him and as much as I was drooling at the thought of it I had to decline. The thought of taking that car into horrible Tulsa streets and traffic made me very nervous due to the odds of a wreck dramatically increasing.
More like 3 miles will occur in less than 60 seconds and then the flaming wreckage of what used to be a very exclusive car will occur across the remaining 47 miles.
"A set of the Super Sport’s special Michelin tires costs $42,000 and may last 10,000 miles if you’re careful, though they last only 15 minutes at the car’s top speed (at that pace, however, the 26.4-gallon tank is sucked dry in just 10 minutes, and there’s no place on Earth to safely go that fast that long anyway, so no worries). At the third tire replacement, Michelin requires that you also swap out the $69,000 wheels—coincidentally, the only wheels that fit those tires—to ensure a proper bead seal. "
I could likely could have walked 10,000 miles in the time it takes me to earn $42,000 for a set of tires that last 10,000 miles.
Here we have a car that’s so expensive to drive that it doesn’t beat walking.
No thanks, I’ll take the BD-5TP which will go 900+ miles on its 38 gallon fuel tank at that speed without wearing out its tires over this car any day.
Oh yea, and the sky is the one place where you can safely go 200+ mph for over an hour at a time, without breaking any laws.
Well the odds may be high but the thing is somebody does win eventually. Your odd of getting hit by lightening too are pretty high but someone this year will be killed by it. We just don’t know who. I haven’t bought any tickets though-the odds are just too high and I don’t like buying from a clerk.
Not as good as a Tesla flatout? oh the "Jeremy "
Anyway, I wasnt even going to log in before work this morning, till I saw the lottery posts. In our magnificent Commonwealth all the proceeds from the the state lottery (I am including the scratch off tickets too ) were supposed to go to the education fund and I dont think that is happening .Another thing was ,they werent supposed to advertise ,that went away real quick , back in the 90s they pushed that racket real hard on TV.
People if you are going to spend X amount each week on the lottery ,instead just put it in a coffee can and pop the top and count it at the end of the year , congratulations you have have won the lottery !
The best I have seen most people do on the lottery ,was sometimes breaking even ,reminds Me of the people on " Pawn Stars " they will amass several hundred dollars and then head for the casino , kind of sad really .
Illinois claimed the lottery was to fund schools, It kind of did, the profits went to the school fund alright, but the school funding from tax revenue was cut by the amount of the lottery proceeds, the toll system, initially only to last until the road was paid off, but that somehow never went away.

In NH the lottery goes to funding education also…HOWEVER…all the money we collect from the lotteries will pay for one DAY of education in NH. I suspect NH is at the high end…most states could barely fund an hour in the whole state.
I buy a lottery ticket occasionally. It’s a cheap thrill and the only vice I have left.
I hope to use my winnings to buy my Bentley. And a Porsche. And a Lotus And build a hot rod.
