I’m doing a rear differential switch on my '88 Jaguar XJ6 (my 1st rear end job by the way).
All went well with the extraction except one of the rubber/metal cross member mounts was rust-welded onto the stud. I finally got it off but the mount was toast (the rubber surrounding the metal stud-holder gave before the stud let go).
Bottom line: I need to replace the mount on the cross member (It’s now just rubber surrounding a hole where the stud cup used to be).
Does the mount have a metal sleeve surrounding the rubber or can I just chip away at the rubber to remove? If so, do they need to be pressed in and out? Thanks guys.
