Oil leak

i have a lincoln towncar and when i took out the sparkplugs there was oil pouring off of then

That’s bad news! How old is the car, how many miles on it, and what is the maintenance history?

If it’s a real old one with a carburetor, some of that oil could be gasoline as well.

You need to do a compression test, since you probably have bad rings as well as likely bad valve guide seals.

You could also have oil leaking out of your valvle covers into the spark plug wells. Was the oil dripping from the TIPS of the plugs?

Where was the oil? Was it around the outside of the spark plug, on the ceramic? Or was it on the electrode, the part that makes the spark inside the engine? Did your spark plug socket get oil on it when you removed the plugs?
