I purchased a 2006 Subaru Outback Sport (Impreza) new in August of 2006. The strange thing about it, is that even though it has the 2.5L four cylinder engine, common parts listed for that engine do not fit. Everything from spark plugs to oil and air filter have to fitted from the 6 cylinder Subaru engine. It doesn’t matter if we’re talking about a Subaru dealer, NAPA, PEP Boys, O’Rielly, etc., when I ask for a part, nothing listed for a 4-cylinder Impreza or Outback or Sport will fit. The parts aren’t even close. But when we look up the same parts for the 6-cylinder Subaru engines, they work fine.
I’m wondering if anyone else has run into this with their Subaru Outback Sport?
