My future wife sent me a card with the picture of the guy with the crippled hands with the inscription “what’s your excuse?” I guess I didn’t get the point that I wasn’t writing enough and had to ask what it meant. Pre cell phones and internet.
When his flight from Honolulu to Portland Oregon was diverted all the way to Great Falls Montana back in the late 60’s my dad went into the gift shop there and bought a post card and mailed it to his parents in Hawaii with no explanation. The family had lived in Great Falls years before.
