I have benn told I have a bad lobe on my cam, that causes a noise like a valve tappet.

A bad cam lobe will make a noise like a bad tappet, however we can’t guess if that’s what you have without a lot more information.
In addition to MG McAnicks’ request, the mileage on the vehicel would be nice as well as it’s maintenance history.
Oh, and what makes you suspect that it’s a bad cam lobe?
