I have a 1995 Toyota 4Runner, Automatic, 4WD, 3L V6, with 200K miles on it. I’ve got a couple of noises coming from my dash. I know one is from the speedometer cable and I can deal with that. The other noise started about a month ago during a really windy day. It’s a whirring/whining sound coming from the middle of my dash. I only hear it when I’m going about 20-30mph. The noise gets louder as I accelerate and goes away when I drop under 20mph. It kind of sounds like wind noise, but also sounds like a leaf or something is stuck in the blower fan. However, when I turn on my heater/ac on recirculate, there is no change in the sound. I am also starting to smell a slight buring smell after I’ve driven with it making this noise. I’m going to be going on a road trip soon and am hoping to figure out what this problem is. I may be able to do some simple work myself, as my mechanic is over an hour away. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
