my '97 subaru impreza outback sport has a rhythmic wosh wosh sound from the right rear wheel when the brakes are applied. It has rear drum brakes. I put on new drums, shoes and springs and the sound is still there. When braking hard, there is a metal knocking sound as well. Any ideas what this could be?
thanks,
Vic
Yes, sounds as if the brakes were installed improperly. Get it to a dealer now since brakes are kinda important!!!
The sound was there before I changed the brake components. I changed the components trying to eliminate the sound, but it didn’t make any difference.
It is more of a thunk, thunk sound when breaking fairly hard from about 30 mph. Could it be a wheel bearing or differential noise?
