I have a 1993 Mazda 929. Just a couple of days ago, I was pulled over and told by the cop that my tail lights are out. The brake and hazard lights work fine as well as the turnsignals. I have checked all the fuses and they are fine. Thought it might be the relay, but alas, I paid for it, had it shipped over night, popped it in and NOTHING. Any ideas?? Pleas tell me this is not going to cost me a fortune!
Look in the trunk area for any electrical harness connections. These can be located behind panels inside the trunk area. if any are found, try unplugging them and plugging them back in. Sometimes something as simple as this can get an electrical circuit working again.

Yep, could be switch or anywhere in between at wires, connectors, or ground wire. Look for simple stuff or something that may have gotten hit by something in the trunk.
Now not to be insulting or anything, but did you check to make sure the bulbs themselves are good. The combo brake/signal and tail bulbs will have two elements. One can burn out and the other still work fine. I can’t tell you how many cars I see on the road with all of the lights out in back except one, and when that one final bulb burns out, it’ll look like a fuse or wiring problem when in fact they are just all burned out. Helped a friend who doesn’t maintain his stuff very well and before we were done had replaced about $20 worth of various bulbs all over the place.
Yep, we checked the bulbs too. Forgot to mention that. I’ll check in the trunk in the morning. There’s some beach chairs back there that could have easily knocked something out of line when i put them back in Sunday night.
