Who provided this doubtful theory ?
I used a shop that specialized in toyata, hondas and a few other brands so their sign said. I got my oil changes done there. The guy said we recommend using toyota branded filters, it is a couple bucks more, and gave me the line about the other filters not having the drainback valve. It was for an 93 toyota pickup, so maybe things were different back then.
Heās promoting what he sells. Of course he had no reason to lie!!!
Toyota filters are good filters. My Toyota filter is made by Denso. Denso makes quality filters. For about a decade Iāve been using Wix on all our vehicles because I know a place that will sell me a case at a time at a good discount. Wix also makes a high quality filter.
Since at least 2007 Toyota has been going to the type of filter that all you replace is the filter element. The Case is not replaced. My filter doesnāt need an anti-drainback valve because the filter sits upside down so when the engine shuts off the filter sits in the filter ready for the next startup.
