The engine will not rev and there is no acceleration when you push down on the gas pedel.

I have a 1997 geo metro 4-door. Car will start fine, when pushing down on gas pedal the engine doesn’t rev and it won’t accelerate to move forward. it will move forward when you take your foot off the brake but will only go 1mph (if that) forward or backward but you can not rev the engine to go up even the smallest incline.
I didn’t see the prior posts. Is your gas pedal opening the throttle body? It sounds like the cable became disconnected if depressing the pedal has no effect.
Check the vacuum lines.
