The Cube is ugly cute, the Aztek is just ugly. Also, the Aztek has won many awards for its ugliness
I bet the Aztek will become collectible in the future. I mean there are only two that I know of in my entire county. Even ugly cars have a following. The Gremlin, Pacer, etc. are now “ugly cool” to have around. I bet this will become one of these types of cars as not many were made from the start. To each their own.
Now I can’t count the number of Cubes I see each day. These things are common as dirt as is the Versa and other Nissan products. That Juke thing is kinda odd. I don’t really know if I like it or not but it is certainly different… A bug-eyed car. My rural mail carrier uses one of these which is surprising. Rural mail carriers usually use the most reliable beater car available to them as these rack up lots of hard miles and quickly. I think the Juke also uses a CVT. I wonder how this will hold up to all that stop and go driving.
As for the Mitsubishi takeover, this topic has come up on the Geo Metro and Mirage Forum. I don’t know the details but it seems the Mitsubishi created a certain number of shares of stock for Mitsubishi to buy. This wasn’t a hostile takeover or anything like that but have no idea what it will bring.
LOL, my dad had a Gremlin. When he became ill in his later years I took it to my home to store. I cannot for the life of me imagine anybody wanting a Gremlin. But you’re right, some weird cars become “niche” collectables.
