I have a 1987 Nissan Maxima. The car has two seat belts one that automatically restrains when the door is closed and one the needs to be manually bucked around the waist. The automatic ones do not come back when the door is closed, both the driver and passenger sides. I need to know what is wrong and how to fix it. The car is obviously not safe with this problem so i would appreciate any ideas. Thanks!
Maybe you can lubricate the mechanism. If not, you can replace the seat belts. On a 1987 car, I might consider a used belt mechanism for a junk yard, if your state allows it. If not, you must buy new ones.
