To take it a step further, the title screen could start by saying “nuts and bolts” but the b gets messed up somehow (a tool or loose part from something could fall on it) and turns it around into a d.

A pirate walks into a bar with a steering wheel sticking out of his fly.
The bartender asks “What’s with the steering wheel?”.
The pirate goes “Aahrr. It’s drivin’ me Nuts!”.

Here is what I came up with.

?Mechanics In Trouble?? play on M.I.T,

The Premise: ?
Since this is a cartoon and a sit-com it could be a MIB ?Men in Black? meets ?Ghost Busters?. A “mechanic” in trouble could be Click and Clack or anyone who picks up a wrench. Click and Clack could get into trouble at their garage and in life?a lot like the radio show
hehe. The show story line might help viewers learn life lessons while being able to laugh at themselves. As a side effect the viewer might, just might learn something about cars. All car related ?things? should be authentic. Provide facts about cars and or real car solutions but this would not be the main story line. The garage, cars and automotive ?troubles? give you a terrific setting for the show.

I could also imagine Click and Clack racing across the country/world to solve someone?s automotive headache,(again MIB meets Ghost Busters)–This would at least give the guys a chance to where cool sunglasses. While Ray was actually working on the car Tom might help the person with a ?life? issue or situation.

The garage sign should read ?Tappet Brothers Garage? then in very small print: Home of the ?Tired? Tappets. After an adventure Click and Clack would always return to the Tappet Brothers Garage ready for bed–“Tired Tappets”; then hit the audience with a subtle, pithy tech tip as the episode wraps up.

We love your show. Our children have been listeing to it in the car with us since they were young. Our 14-year old son came up with the name “Car Toontalk”, which we thought was pretty clever and apropo. Now I see he’s not the only one with that great idea! We can’t wait to watch!

Let’s think long term on this one
 this show’s going to be so good that it will continue for ten or fifteen years
 so
 let’s plan on differentiating each season by having a sub-title for it.
Choose a short title for the show itself (e.g. Car Talk or CarTalk or CarTouche) and a “Car Talk the Radio Show” culture sub-title
 viz season 1: Car Talk: Click and Clack
season 2: Car Talk: Our Fair City
season 3: Car Talk: Don’t Drive Like My Brother
season 4: Car Talk: Dewey, Cheatham and Howe

This idea was inspired by the Dick Van Dyke Show’s opener in which there was weekly anticipation over “would Rob trip over the ottoman tonight”?
