Thanks I heard that having the tailgate down reduced drag too but I tried it once and found that you are right so I left it up.
How could you possibly measure the difference? break into JPL and steal some equipment?
Sounds like your mileage numbers are good.But if you want to get the gas misers club respect,never exceed 2500 rpm and every time you start the truck drive at least 20 miles.
One thing that effect carbed trucks alot is acceleration.
