I have that on our Ford Fiesta . I like the fact that I just open door and put fuel in. About future problems only time will tell .
There isnāt any pressure. There is however a vacuum so the fumes donāt escape.
I rented a car that had that. It was weird, but you get used to it quickly.
In NJ our inspection centers are free. You can go to a private garage which is certified by the State and pay. At the station they put a vacuum on the cap and if it holds the cap passes. They also plug the OBD II into the port and look for codes.
Please let us know when you figure-out how to āfixā an aged gas cap, and please be sure to include technical details for anyone who wants to pursue that route.
None of which is applicable with the OPās 1987 pick-up truck as itās not OBD IIā¦
I donāt trust stores I remember I bought 3 gas caps and they kept saying it was gas cap with the check engine light
