My Car Farts

I have called in about this…my 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Z-34 actually farts sometimes when I start it up when it’s cold. It starts fine, but it goes BBBRRRFFFT!! while starting. I have had a new fuel filter, cleaned out the fuel injectors, replaced all the gaskets on the intake and heads, and it still farts. It runs like a scalded bunny and there are no idiot lights showing up. I have taken it to a shop and had all the computer stuff checked and it is all ok. My mechanic is stumped. He started it and it farted on him, and he said this should not be happening but he checked everything and could not figure it out.

He gave the car back to me and said, “Honey, you’re right. It farts. And I have no clue why it’s doing that.”

Any ideas? I called in and left a message for Tom and Ray. Help!!

Excess gases being held until the next start, perhaps in the cat converter?

Yep, you’re right, I thought about that too, and had the entire exhaust system replaced from the manifold to the tailpipe, including the catalytic converter. Didn’t make any difference. Rats!!
But thanks! Good thinking.

Darn! Thought I had it.

I wonder if the EGR has something to do with it?

Perhaps OK4450 knows the answer to this one.
