UPDATE: the blower is back!!! Turned the ignition on, and hot air was blowing to beat the band; “a mighty wind”… Flipped my directional signal later, and it shut off again… Next time I started the car up, it was back. If it didn’t interfere with my radio listening (“Car Talk”), I’d just leave it on permanently.
