Montero rubbing noise from the steering shaft

I have two questions; I am the original owner of a 2001 monteo ltd. with 65k miles on it.

1.It’s been a month since a noise started somewhere from the steering shaft, as though it is rubbing some rubber. The noise comes whenever I am turing…

2. I have replaced the wheels with 20" rims for the last four years, I have noticed the hub centric ring is not a perfect fit between the hub and the wheel opeining. Therefore I always have a bad vibration on the steering wheel when the speed is 60mph or over. Less than that speed you can hardly notice the vibration.

I will appreciate if some one could help with some advice…

I have noticed the hub centric ring is not a perfect fit between the hub and the wheel opeining. Therefore I always have a bad vibration on the steering wheel when the speed is 60mph or over. Less than that speed you can hardly notice the vibration.

And you are worrying about the rubbing noise from the steering wheel? I would be a lot more worried about the wheels and I would have had them replaced long ago.

As for your question, does it sound like rubbing plastic?
