I have a 2004 Montero. It has been the best farm/general vehicle I have ever had. I have a ranch in East Texas that is often a swamp that will not let a buldozer pass but the Montero will go nearly anywhere anytime. It is as good in a pasture as my 3/4 ton, 4 wheel drive pickup with positraction, and I can drive anywhere on the road in comfort, something that can not be said for the 3/4 ton pickup. The problem is that it has 145,000 miles on it and it will need to be replaced in the next year or two and Mitsubishi doesn’t sell this car anymore. What is a comparable replacement?
Toyota 4Runner?
Agree with VDC. The 4 Runner is the master of the Australian Outback and the toughest affordable offroad vehicle I know. The Toyota Land Cruiser is even better, but much more expensive.
Don’t get sucked into buying a Hummer. I has great terrain ability, but has dismal reliability and parts may soon no longer be available.
