Has anyone seen military cargo trucks licensed to civilians? I’ve seen 2 that look like they are at least 5-tons in the last two weeks. Is this military-chic? I’m glad I don’t have to pay for diesel fuel.
It’s done all the time. There’s a Military Car club in NH. People buy the old trucks for pennies on the dollar and refurbish them.
I had an aquantence whose dad was an attorney in eastern Montana and at one point a client paid him for his services with a 1980’s-vintage six-wheel-drive deuce-and-a-half truck. As it turns out, the thing was basically a license to print money, because during fire season he would rent it out to rural fire departments for a few hundred bucks a day. During bad fire seasons, that adds up quick!
