If I was going to buy a sports car now, I’d look for something that was popular when I was younger and couldn’t afford it. For example, a Toyota Celica, Honda Prelude, Ford Probe, maybe a Cavalier RS or a Dodge Shadow with the 3.0L engine. By now, most of these are over 25 years old, and as rare as any exotic make, but still much easier and cheaper to buy and maintain.
Some how I can’t see calling any of those a desirable sports car .

There has always been a lot of disagreement on what constitutes a sports car but none of those vehicles would make most peoples list.
